Former Strikeforce champion Nick Diaz could be returning to the UFC sooner rather than later.
Diaz, who announced his retirement – again – following a loss to Georges St-Pierre for the UFC welterweight title, started his own MMA promotion earlier this year. WAR MMA held its first event in California in June.
“There is an offer on the table, that’s all I can say,” said Cesar Gracie, trainer for Diaz, in an interview with BJPenn.com. “Dana (White) has offered him a fight. There is an offer on the table; I can’t say who it is, but it’s kind of neat I think.”
Gracie added that no decisions “have been made for sure” regarding the bout, letting it be known that the fighter was in Las Vegas recently. That would confirm White’s comments about Diaz wanting tickets to UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman earlier this month.
