Kelvin Gastelum was considered an underdog in the finals of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17, but surprised many by taking the win over favorite Uriah Hall. In doing so, Gastelum won the season for the middleweights.
“That was something that really bothered me,” said Gastelum to Bleacher Report. “People thought I was going to get murdered and already declared him the winner before we ever stepped into that cage. It really bothered me, but at the same time, it was something I never let get under my skin. I knew I was going to prove everyone wrong.”
Gastelum goes down to welterweight in his next fight opposite Paulo Thiago. He’s undefeated at 6-0.
Thiago returns for the second time this year when he meets Gastelum. In January, he earned the decision win over Michel Prazeres.
