Roger Gracie had hype heading into his UFC debut, but came up short in a decision loss to Tim Kennedy. Though there’s the often spoken about Octagon jitters, Gracie felt comfortable during the contest.
“More or less, I was not too nervous,” said Gracie to TATAME. “I did not feel physically tense, which could affect me. I felt a usual nervousness. It is impossible to be at zero, but nothing extraordinary.”
Before Gracie joined the UFC, the former grappling World Champion was a member of Strikeforce. He was 4-1 for them with mostly submission wins.
Kennedy was also making his UFC debut following time in Strikeforce. He’s a former middleweight title contender.
UFC 162 was July 6 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
