Long Island’s own Chris Weidman will be honored later today for his UFC 162 knockout of longtime middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
Nassau County executive Edward Mangano, New York State Senator Dean Skelos and Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray have labeled July 17 as “Chris Weidman Day.”
Weidman is a former New York State wrestling champion at Baldwin High School and was an All-American at Nassau Community College and Hofstra University. The ceremony is 2:00 p.m. ET from the Coral House in Long Island.
The title rematch headlines UFC 168 on December 28 in Las Vegas, NV.
