When Rory MacDonald defeated BJ Penn last December, he made an impression in the welterweight division and angered some fans. Already having heat, MacDonald captured more by doing the “Ali Shuffle” in the closing moments of that win.
For MacDonald, he’s more about showing his skills when the cage door closes and not running his mouth.
“At the end of the day, this is my job, to fight,” said MacDonald to MMA Junkie. “I don’t let trash talk or anything get in the way or [have] a difference in my focus or my emotions. He could be the nicest guy, or the rudest guy.”
Jake Ellenberger will look to stop the speed MacDonald has gained. MacDonald’s 3-1 since 2012 with wins over Diego Sanchez, Jay Hieron and Nate Marquardt.
MacDonald is 5-1 for the UFC and is on a streak of four.
They are set for UFC on FOX 8, which is July 27. It’s from the KeyArena in Seattle, WA.
