Joanne Calderwood Wants Flyweight Gold Before 2013 Expires

Joanne Calderwood would like to conclude this year with a crack at the Invicta FC flyweight championship.

“I look at all my opponents knowing that I have to beat them if I want to get to the Invicta title,” said Calderwood to MMA Weekly. “That’s my goal and I need to beat anyone, whether they’re from a great camp or not. I need to fight them as a fighter.”

Calderwood went through two other opponents before finally landing on Norma Rueda Center for Invicta FC 6.

Since joining Invicta FC in October, Calderwood has two wins for the promotion by defeating Ashley Cummins and Livia von Plettenberg.

Center took five amateur wins and two as a professional. She turned pro in March of this year and has wins against Rachael Cummins and Olga Ortega. She will be making her Invicta FC debut.

Today, July 13, Invicta FC 6 airs on pay-per-view with the main card beginning at 9 p.m. ET. It hails from the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, MO.
