Anthony Pettis Tabbed To Face Benson Henderson After TJ Grant Injury

That long-rumored Benson Henderson-Anthony Pettis rematch is now on after an injury has forced TJ Grant to remove himself from a planned main event fight with the UFC lightweight champion.

Henderson lost the WEC lightweight title to Pettis in the final match the promotion put on before being absorbed by the UFC. Pettis was expected to face Jose Aldo in August, but an injury knocked him from that fight at UFC 163: Aldo vs. Korean Zombie.

Immediately after that happened, though, “Showtime” offered his services for the August 31 card, stating he would be healthy in time. UFC president Dana White shot that down, but now has changed course, after the UFC’s official Twitter account first reported the change.

UFC 164: Henderson vs. Pettis will go down in Pettis’ hometown of Milwaukee. Pettis was the last man to defeat Henderson, who has defended his UFC title three times.
