Josh Koscheck has been forced out of a planned UFC 163: Aldo vs. Korean Zombie fight with Demian Maia set for next month in Brazil.
Due to the short notice, no new opponent will be found for Maia, and the August 3 card from Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena will go on without a 13th fight.
Koscheck (17-7) was looking to snap a two-fight losing skid by taking on the Brazilian in his native country. He has lost his last two to Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler.
Maia (18-4) has won three in a row since moving down to welterweight from middleweight. He is 9-4 in his UFC career, including a loss to then-UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva.
