Daniel Cormier fielded several questions on Twitter Thursday, including ones concerning a possible fight with Roy Nelson later this year.
Cormier, a former Olympian and winner of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix, mentioned possibly fighting in Houston this October vs. Nelson. Currently, “Big Country” is unsigned, but most believe he will return to the UFC.
When asked if he wanted a fight with Nelson, Cormier responded by stating, “Yes.” He later added that he was born in nearby Lafayette, Louisiana, which is “only 3 1/2 hours from Houston. It’s perfect.”
UFC 166: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos III will take place inside the Toyota Center in Houston. Cormier’s close friend and training partner, UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, defends his belt against Junior dos Santos in the main event.
“DC” also re-confirmed plans to move down to light heavyweight, saying he would like “The champion. Whoever that is at the time,” for his first 205-pound bout.
