Despite initially making it sound like the rematch between UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva could go down at UFC 168: Rousey vs. Tate 2 as the new main event, UFC president Dana White appears to have backtracked.
The card takes place December 28 and was announced as the second encounter between UFC female bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate.
However, a report by the LA Times early Monday stated that Weidman-Silva could bump the two ladies to early in 2014. White, though, later told the newspaper that Rousey-Tate will remain on the Las Vegas card, and a date is yet to be determined for the Weidman-Silva rematch.
Rousey said she could “handle anything” in regards to the match moving, but would “like to be on the New Year’s card.”
