Anderson Silva’s manager Ed Soares watched as Chris Weidman handed the former middleweight champion his first UFC loss. Soares thinks Silva’s overzealousness might have cost him the match.
“I think he went out there and was taunting him and doing certain things Anderson does once in a while,” said Soares on The MMA Hour. “There’s a possibility he may have taken it too far this time. And unfortunately he wasn’t able to walk away with the W.”
At UFC 162, Silva attempted to get into Weidman’s head with his gestures and verbal attacks. The end saw Weidman connect with one shot to send Silva to the canvas out cold in round number two.
Post-fight, Silva said he wasn’t interested in another title run though UFC president Dana White wants to make the rematch before 2013 ends.
