UFC president Dana White issued high praise on Jon Jones, stating that the current UFC light heavyweight champion is “re-writing the record book.”
“Bones” will look to continue to ascend on those books this September when he faces Alexander Gustafsson in the main event of UFC 165: Jones vs. Gustafsson from Toronto.
A pre-fight press conference will be held Tuesday at noon ET and FightLine will have complete coverage of the event.
“Jon Jones is re-writing the record book for the light heavyweight division,” White said. “He is one of the pound-for-pound best in the world with a record-tying five straight title defenses by age 25. This bout with Gustafsson is an awesome fight. Alex is a big man plus he’s mean and hungry – and excited for the opportunity to fight Jones.”
The card will also feature interim UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao meeting Eddie Wineland.
