Norman Parke was finally able to enter the Octagon at UFC 162 after a six plus month layoff. He defeated Kazuki Tokudome with a decision, but knows the time off didn’t help his game.
“I need to work on everything,” said Parke to MMA Fighting. “The six months off made me a little rusty. I’m not making any excuses. I’ve got the tools there and need to get it in the cage. Hopefully the next one won’t go to the judges.”
In the finals of The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes, Parke won after years of fighting across Europe. He was supposed to return in April opposite Jon Tuck, but the challenger suffered an injury the week of the fight.
Japan’s Tokudome is now 1-1 for the UFC with the other win coming from Cristiano Marcello earlier in the year. He’s noted for his long run in Pancrase.
They two were on the prelims of UFC 162. Their fight, which was July 6, aired on FX. For complete play-by-play of the entire card, click here.
