Nick Diaz’s current retirement could already be over, according to a message UFC president Dana White received before UFC 162.
“He texted me that he broke up with his girlfriend and he wants to fight,” said White at the UFC 162 post-fight media scrum.
White booked Diaz a hotel room for UFC 162 as most were full due to the holiday weekend. In the end, Diaz never showed.
The former Strikeforce welterweight champion suffered a loss to Carlos Condit for the UFC welterweight interim belt. It was followed with a one year suspension for marijuana. He returned against champion Georges St-Pierre in a losing effort at UFC 158.
Post-fight, Diaz announced he was done unless given a St-Pierre rematch or Anderson Silva bout. He recently ran his first show called WAR MMA.
