Mike Pierce has been with the UFC for years and is on one of his better runs. Despite all that, he was placed as the opening fight on the preliminary card of UFC 162. Though Pierce couldn’t complain, he hopes his win was exciting enough to land him higher on the next card.
“I’m fighting for the best show in the world,” said Pierce to MMA Fighting. “I proved here that I belong higher up on the card. A lot of my fights haven’t been the most entertaining. People want to see those finishes and they pay good money for that. I’m trying to do that now and get back more into the pay-per-view and main card action.”
Of Pierce’s 12 UFC fights, eight have gone to the judges. That didn’t happen with David Mitchell, as he finished him within two rounds. It was his second stoppage since October 2012 and fourth win in a row. Pierce feels injury free and is ready to return at anytime.
Mitchell is now 1-3 for the UFC. Prior to joining the UFC, he was undefeated with 11 wins.
