For years, UFC president Dana White called Anderson Silva the current pound-for-pound best fighter in the world. With his loss to Chris Weidman at UFC 162, the UFC boss has been forced to change his answer.
“Jon Jones,” said White when asked that question during the UFC 162 post-fight press conference. “Anderson’s still on the list. I’d still put him above Weidman.”
For years, Silva, Jones and Georges St-Pierre have been juggled as the Top 3 pound-for-pound best.
Jones is currently the light heavyweight champion and has been dominating the division with five title defenses in just over two years. He returns at UFC 165 on September 21 against Alexander Gustafsson.
Silva said he’s done worrying about being a champion, but White thinks he’ll want a rematch with Weidman in the near future.
