Frankie Edgar Planning To Stay At Featherweight, Seeks Another Title Shot

Frankie Edgar spent several years competing in UFC title matches, title defenses and rematches.

Now, after snapping a three-fight losing skid, Edgar is hoping he is nearing another run at the championship belt – and he plans to do so at featherweight.

“The Answer” upended Charles Oliveira in a hard-fought co-main event Saturday night at UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman. He lost earlier this year to UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo via decision.

“I’d love another shot at a title,” said Edgar, during the post-fight show on FUEL TV. “Whoever gets me there is who I want.”

Some wondered if Edgar might move down again to bantamweight, to which he said, “I don’t know if I’m going to go down to 135. My goal is a shot at the title at 145.” Later during the post-fight press conference, he made it known retirement would be a better option than another weight drop.
