Multi-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion Gabi Garcia is ready to give WMMA a chance. The decision for more competition played a major factor.
“I want to fight MMA now,” said Garcia to TATAME. “I’m unmotivated, not because I think I’m invincible, but we need to find another challenge. I need another goal in life and if UFC or other events begin to have bigger weight classes, I will get down my weight as much as possible.”
Garcia said she weighs around 235 pounds, meaning she would need to drop around 100 pounds as the UFC only has a bantamweight division.
There are no exact details about when, or against whom, Garcia will meet in her WMMA debut.
