UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva appears full-focused on his match Saturday night vs. Chris Weidman at UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman.
“The Spider” acted calm, cool and relaxed during the pre-fight press conference on Thursday, embracing the constant chants of “Silva, Silva, Silva” throughout.
Many believe Weidman is the one to finally unseat Silva and end his reign atop the middleweight division. Silva, though, isn’t too concerned with that.
“It is great to have healthy competition,” Silva said. “There is healthy competition between the Americans and the Brazilians. The Brazilians are here to show we have respect and are well educated. This is a big day for us and they are here supporting the event.”
In response to all his fellow fighters selecting Weidman, Silva said, “no, this is normal. I have my opinion. The other fighters have their opinions; it is normal. No (it doesn’t put any extra motivation).”
