Since Showtime stopped airing Strikeforce in January, they’ve been dropping hints about adding another MMA promotion to their station. Late last week, Showtime Sports Executive Stephen Espinoza suggested Invicta FC was high on their list but he’s retracting those remarks.
“I haven’t had a single conversation about a specific deal with Invicta,” said Espinoza to Bleacher Report. “I have spoken to them, but it was very general. Certainly nothing close to discussing a deal with them. We discussed the opportunity, but I’ve had that kind of meeting with a dozen other promotions as well.”
Invicta FC holds their sixth event on July 13 from the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, MO. It’s headlined with Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos vs. Marloes Coenen for the inaugural featherweight title and airs on pay-per-view for $14.95.
Their first show was in April 2012 with some of their fighters eventually joining the new UFC women’s division.
