Nearly five months removed since Cyrille Diabate tore his calf muscle during UFC on FUEL TV 7 and the French fighter is still weeks from being cleared to train.
“I had a five inch split in my Achilles tendon and a tear in my calf muscle,” said Diabate to Mixed Martial Arts. “I’ve been rehabbing ever since. It’s taking some time just because I had to let the tears heal before starting all the exercising. Apparently I’m a few weeks away from being able to train normally.”
Diabate said he suffered from tendinitis for a long time and felt a minor tear while in the back preparing for his eventual loss to Jimi Manuwa. Once the light heavyweights went at it, Diabate said the tear got worse in a hurry. The doctor stopped the fight in-between rounds one and two.
The loss made Diabate 4-3 for the UFC and ended his run of two wins from 2012.
