UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has plenty of respect for Chris Weidman.
The two meet Saturday night in the main event of UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman from Las Vegas. FightLine will have complete coverage of the entire event.
Silva has previously defended his title 10 times, including wins over the likes of Chael Sonnen (twice), Rich Franklin (twice), Dan Henderson, Yushin Okami and Vitor Belfort.
Still, many are predicting a Weidman victory, despite the unbeaten prospect being a 2-to-1 underdog.
“This is good because it’s very important for people to talk, talk talk and the fans (to) watch the fight,” said Silva, on UFC Tonight Tuesday. “The fans watch Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva. Weidman has fans, I have fans.”
Asked if he is going to pull out the victory – which would be his 17th inside the Octagon – Silva simply stated “I don’t know. It’s a great fight Saturday. Weidman has good jiu-jitsu, great wrestling and a good stand-up. It’s a great fight.”
