Former UFC champion Vitor Belfort believes his recent string of victories more than makes him the legitimate No. 1 contender to the UFC middleweight title.
This Saturday night, UFC champion Anderson Silva will put his title on the line against Chris Weidman in the main event of UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman. “The Phenom” believes he is deserving of the winner.
“(UFC president) Dana White the fans and me are very excited to see who is going to (be) my next opponent on this Saturday,” Belfort posted in response to a question asked by White on Twitter Tuesday, “I deserve the winner!”
Belfort has went 4-1 in his last five, losing only to UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. That includes wins this year over fellow contenders Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold via stoppage.
Of course, many still remember the memorable knockout Silva delivered on Belfort just a little over two years ago. The Brazilian has also dealt with plenty of TRT talk, as he has twice used the exemption prior to fights.
