Roy Nelson has completed his UFC contract and is in negations to resign, according to his manager Mike Kogan. While there’s still over a month until the exclusive negotiating period ends, the two sides seem to be making strides.
“We’re not there yet, but we’re not out of the ballpark either,” said Kogan to MMA Junkie. “Their offer is reasonable and there’s some things that Roy wants in there, and that’s why it’s called a negotiation.”
The heavyweight has been with the promotion since he won The Ultimate Fighter in late 2009. He’s 6-4 and comes off a loss to Stipe Miocic from UFC 161. Prior to that, he closed in on a title shot with three consecutive round one stoppages.
UFC 161 was June 15 from Canada’s MTS Centre.
