UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has earned the right to request an immediate rematch if he stumbles this Saturday night vs. Chris Weidman.
Silva, who has earned 10 successful title defenses, will face the unbeaten prospect at UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman. “The Spider” is a perfect 16-0 in his Octagon career.
Should he falter, though, UFC president Dana White believes an immediate rematch is necessary.
“I’d do the rematch the next fight,” said White, during an interview with MMAjunkie.com. “Guy hasn’t lost in the UFC ever, has beat everybody. He loses that fight, he’s the guy for a rematch if he wants it.”
Silva (33-4) would be headed for a potential champion vs. champion match if he successfully navigates around Weidman (9-0), added the boss.
“He’s on board to fight either one of them,” White said.
