Since Edson Barboza lost to Jamie Varner in quick fashion, he’s been training with Frankie Edgar’s camp and feels it’s what his skill set was missing.
“I couldn’t leave this group,” said Barboza to MMA Junkie. “They all are great people and partners. I’m blessed to be part of this. The first day I trained with these guys over here, I felt like I was at home.”
Barboza returned in January and finished Lucas Martins at the start of the year. It improves the lightweight to 1-11 with five of those wins coming for the UFC.
He returns at UFC 162 against the 11-2 John Makdessi. Edgar takes on featherweight Charles Oliveira on the same card.
UFC 162 is July 6 from the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
