Benson Henderson has made a habit of squeaking out the winner in some lightweight championship fights. If he looks to do the same with TJ Grant, the No. 1 contender is prepared to push the pace.
“I’m going to prepare for it,” said Grant during a recent Q&A. “When I train for fights, I spar five rounds. I’m going to pressure him and it’s going to be in your face. That’s how I like to bring it. We’ll see how he fights five rounds when I’m attacking him the whole time.”
Grant finished his last two opponents to earn the title shot. He knocked out Matt Wiman and Gray Maynard within the opening round.
Henderson beat Frankie Edgar in a close bout and the rematch via split-decision. In April, he took another split-decision over Gilbert Melendez.
They headline UFC 164 on August 31. It comes out of the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI.
