Dave Herman is close to being granted a fight license, if he can pass a drug test today.
“I’ve been trying to do everything right and I’ve only been doing it for six months, but I plan to keep doing things right,” said Herman during his meeting with the NSAC. “Hopefully, you can take my word for it.”
The NSAC questioned Herman’s previous issues with marijuana and run-ins with the law. He failed a UFC 136 drug test in October 2011 and was removed from the fight. A year later, Herman tested positive for marijuana again. As a result, he was order to undergo treatment.
The heavyweight also has two battery charges from 2005 and 2006, with the second landing him 15 days behind bars.
Herman is set to fight Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 162. It’s next Saturday, July 6, from the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
