Marcus Brimage won’t be stepping inside the Octagon until at least 2014 as he continues to rehab his Achilles tendon injury. When he does return, he will be cutting from featherweight to bantamweight.
His manager, Lex McMahon, confirmed the decision.
“Marcus has started his rehab and is working with a team of doctors, therapists, coaches and nutritionists to make certain that he returns to the octagon as soon as possible and in the best shape possible,” said McMahon to MMA Junkie. “Current estimates are for a nine-month recovery. Upon his return, Marcus will fight as a bantamweight.”
Brimage joined the UFC with three straight wins against Stephen Bass, Maximo Blanco and Jimy Hettes. At UFC on FUEL TV 8 in April, Brimage suffered a 67 second TKO loss to the debuting Conor McGregor. The loss made Brimage 6-2.
