Daniel Cormier had a dull debut against former UFC heavyweight champ Frank Mir in their meeting at UFC on FOX 7 in Cormier’s home town of San Jose, California, coming out with a unanimous decision win. Like Chris Weidman, Cormier is an accomplished wrestler.”DC” expects to see “All-American” gain some name recognition in his main event title shot next weekend (July 6, 2013) at UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman.
Cormier recently had something to say about the upcoming middleweight title match-up in a UFC Interview.
“The general public may not know him as well as they should — but they will.”
Cormier is just one of many pros that feels the New Jersey native will make a name for himself when he and Silva go toe-to-toe inside the Octagon on pay-per-view. The NCAA Division I wrestler has less fights than the champ has title defenses, but a lot of fans aren’t convinced that Silva’s superior experience advantage will make a difference, and that the fight is tailor made for Weidman to win and take the title.
