While Bellator takes breaks in-between their seasons, the UFC doesn’t operate that way. UFC president Dana White considers his nonstop attention to the business as why Bellator will never compete with the top MMA promotion of North America.
“They’re never going to be as good as us,” said White. “This is what we do 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Viacom shuts down from December 3 to after the New Year and then all the big holidays in between. Nobody’s ever going to outwork us or out-hustle us. That’s just never going to happen. It’s impossible.”
Bellator just resumed action with their 2013 Summer Series. The series was cut to just two shows during the summer months as the promotion prepares to return in September for Season 9. They concluded Season 8 in early April.
The UFC has over 25 shows confirmed for 2013 with several cards not yet added. Per month, the UFC averages around four events.
