Mike Pierce is making moves in the UFC welterweight division as he looks for his fourth win in just over a year at UFC 162. While Pierce still must face David Mitchell, he has his eyes set on two fellow welterweights as possible next fights.
“There’s two guys that come to mind and that would be Jake Ellenberger and Carlos Condit,” said Pierce to MMA Mania. “I think both of those guys are tough and both of those guys can be beat and they’re both really relevant fighters right now.”
Ellenberger takes on Rory MacDonald at UFC on FOX 8 on July 28 and Condit has a rematch set with Martin Kampmann at UFC on FS1 2. The two are considered top contenders for the welterweight title, with Condit being a former interim champion.
Pierce is 8-3 for the UFC with all his losses coming from former No. 1 contenders. Mitchell is 1-2 for the UFC and kept his career alive by defeating Simeon Thoresen this year.
They are on the prelims of UFC 162 on July 6. It comes from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
