Randy Couture, Nick Diaz, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson: The Morning News Roundup – 6.25.13

Welcome to the Tuesday edition of the roundup. In today’s top stories, Randy Couture discusses his beef with UFC President Dana White, Nick Diaz talks about the future of his new promotion WAR MMA, and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson lays out his plans for fighting, pro wrestling, and more. Plus, we’ve got a cool video dump where there’s sure to be something for everyone. Here are your headlines:

• Couture says White is an attack dog for the Fertitta brothers and they use him to hurt their perceived opponents. It’s hard to know exactly how things operate behind the scenes at Zuffa, but I think it’s safe to say things are set up the way they are for a reason. Dana is the figurehead of the organization because that’s how Lorenzo & Frank Fertitta want it, and he’s by no means a loose cannon.

• Diaz says he is pleased with the result from his first promoted MMA show but there are currently no plans to launch a sophomore outing. WAR MMA’s inaugural effort was a solid regional show and streamed online with an innovative “pay what you want” monetization scheme. I hope we get to see more from Nick in the future, whether it’s in the competition arena or behind the curtain.

• “Rampage” says he will make his debut in Bellator before 2013 is out. Also in the works is a pro wrestling run in TNA, a reality TV show, and a return to film acting. I know many MMA fans are excited for the prospect of Jackson taking on “King Mo” Muhammed Lawal, who is the cornerstone of Bellator’s 205-pound division.

• Lots of great Youtube videos here, including trailers, free fights, and a former UFC champion singing karaoke. Check it out if you need to kill some time this morning.
