Nick Diaz held his first show with WAR MMA over the weekend as he looked to change the sport for the better. It was the first time Diaz ventured into being a promoter, but it may have been a onetime deal.
“We’re happy, everyone seemed to enjoy it,” said Diaz on the Record.net. “I have a very good team working with me. I didn’t call all the shots, but I OK’d things and knew what I wanted. I have no set plans at this time. We’ll get together and lay everything out and discuss it. Then we’ll go from there.”
WAR MMA streamed online for free and was able to land 3,500 live fans. The event was free to attend with payment being optional. It was June 22 from Stockton, CA.
The main event saw Justin Baesman take a split-decision win against former UFC fighter Daniel Roberts. For complete results, click here.
Diaz has stated he’s retired unless given a rematch with Georges St-Pierre or Anderson Silva. The UFC doesn’t seem interested.
