Cat Zingano walked to the Octagon at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 Finale with tears of joy rolling down her face. The mother of a young son closed that night finishing Miesha Tate in the final round to take Fight of the Night.
Besides the bonus cash, Zingano also earned a spot coaching on an upcoming season of TUF which was to be met with a women’s bantamweight title shot against Ronda Rousey.
Right before the show was to begin taping, Zingano went down with an ACL injury and everything she worked on was gone. On May 28, Zingano underwent ACL surgery and is expected to miss up to a year of action.
There’s no waiting around in the UFC and the promotion went ahead and gave Tate the coaching gig and next title shot.
Zingano has been documenting her recovery and the latest video shows the progress she’s made in less than 30 days removed from the operating table as she attempts to relearn how to walk.
Below is a video of Zingano continuing to rehab her leg.
