Before females were kicking rear in the UFC, Megumi Fujii was one of the pioneers of WMMA. Now, as women are making strides in the UFC, Fujii prepares to retire in a few months.
Fujii will compete one final time at the Vale Tudo Japan on October 5.
The 39-year-old is 26-2 with decision losses to Zoila Gurgel and Jessica Aguilar for Bellator. One of her biggest wins for Bellator was an armbar stoppage over now Invicta FC strawweight champion Carla Esparza.
Fujii has also fought for Smackgirl, Jewels and Shooto promotions out of Japan.
No official opponent is known for Fujii’s retirement bout.
