Dan Henderson Hasn’t Seen Enough Of Chris Weidman, Frankie Edgar Says He’s The Whole Package.

With Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman being the main event of the upcoming UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman pay-per-view, two pro fighters have come forth with their thoughts on the marquee match-up.

Former two-time UFC title challenger at both light-heavyweight and middleweight, Dan Henderson was finished by Silva back at UFC 82 in their bout to unify the PRIDE and UFC titles. Hendo is coming off a split decision loss to Rashad Evans at UFC 161 and says he wouldn’t put his bet anywhere else, simply because he hasn’t seen much of the undefeated rising star, Weidman.

“I really haven’t seen much of Chris Weidman,” Henderson said in a recent interview with Rick J Lee. “I know he’s very well rounded and very tough. I think he’s capable of putting Anderson down on his back, and also striking with him. But he hasn’t been tested very well with his chin, and Anderson definitely will test it, he’s very accurate with his striking. I’d probably have to bet on Anderson if I was gonna bet. Most of that is because I haven’t seen enough of Weidman yet.”

Frankie “The Answer” Edgar has been in close decisions in his last two fights with the current champions at both featherweight and lightweight. Edgar’s next bout will be against the young Jiu-Jitsu ace Charles Oliveira on the same night of UFC 162 as the co-main event, which will be Edgar’s first non-title fight since December 2009. The Answer says he likes Weidman’s chances in his main event title match-up with Silva.

“I gotta go with the East Coast boy Weidman,” Edgar said on his fan chat. “He’s the whole package. Anderson has fought good wrestlers, but Chris has got great jiu-jitsu and a solid stand-up game as well.”

UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman is set for July 6, 2013 in Las Vegas
