Chael Sonnen is heading to Boston this August and fighting former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
Reports earlier this week started surfacing concerning a possible issue with some of the international fighters obtaining a fight license to compete in Massachusetts. The state has a law that prohibits fighters from competing without a social security number.
Rua, being a Brazilian, would not have a number. However, Sonnen says the fight is a go for August 17 at UFC on FS1: Shogun vs. Sonnen.
“The fight has never been in jeopardy,” said Sonnen, during Tuesday’s edition of UFC Tonight. “Shogun and I have already been cleared.”
