Sean Pierson was feeling good heading into the third and final round of UFC 161. Then Kenny Robertson came out and almost finished the fight. Pierson described the majority decision win as a disappointment.
“Nobody wants to end a fight like that,” said Pierson to MMA Fighting. “I know my wife’s at home right now crying watching that TV and I don’t want to put anybody through that. I made a bad mistake and got caught. I want to end being on top finishing the fight.”
It was Pierson’s third decision win in a row for a 4-2 record. Pierson has fought twice in a row out of Canada.
At one point in the third, Robertson had 50 shots to none. It still wasn’t enough and he drops to 1-3 in his UFC career.
The welterweights took part of the prelims at UFC 161. The show was headlined with Rashad Evans taking a decision over Dan Henderson.
