Stephen Espinoza, the executive vice president of sports for Showtime, continues to look into bringing MMA back to his network.
Showtime stopped airing MMA earlier this year after Strikeforce closed up shop and consolidated with the UFC. At the time, Espinoza made it known that plans were in place to air the sport again, but nothing has been made official.
Rumors of Invicta FC, the all-female promotion, taking the place of Strikeforce has been talked about. However, Espinoza hinted that his company could create a promotion instead of bringing in an upstart.
“It’s not inconceivable,” posted Espinoza on Twitter, in response to whether or not Showtime could start its own MMA promotion.”
