Earlier reports had Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira being fine since a submission loss at UFC on FUEL TV 10. That’s changed since an MRI showed the former PRIDE champion broke a ligament in his left elbow, reports TATAME.
The injury came in his second round loss to Fabricio Werdum via armbar on June 8.
Nogueira is familiar with arm and shoulder injuries. It was in December 2011 when Frank Mir broke Nogueira’s right humerus. It required some screws to heal the wound and put Nogueira on the shelf for close to a year.
The surgery was yesterday and doctors say Nogueira should be back in six to eight weeks.
