Cortney Casey Uses Previous Soccer Career To Push The Pace At Today’s XFC 24

In Cortney Casey’s professional WMMA debut later today, the flyweight knows she must push the pace against Kelly Warren. Casey believes her years of playing soccer at the University of Texas El Paso will be in her favor.

“My recovery time is a little bit quicker than most because of all my training in soccer,” said Casey to MMA Weekly. “You have to go 90 minutes and sometimes to overtime, so your cardio has to be up there. It’s constant movement just like in MMA, with short bursts, so it transfers over well.”

This won’t be Casey’s first fight as she’s been on the amateur circuit for three years. She went 6-2 and is riding five wins.

Warren started her career with three wins, but has dropped her last four. This will be her first fight in 13 months.

They are a go for tonight’s XFC 24. It comes from the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, FL and airs live on AXS TV.
