Jacob Volkmann feels confident heading into today’s World Series of Fighting (WSOF) 3 show. While his opponent Lyle Beerbohm made weight, it apparently didn’t come easy.
“[Beerbohm’s] weight was 14.4 [pounds] over last night,” said Volkmann on MMA Junkie Radio. “He tweeted that last night. That’s too much weight to lose. Hopefully, he makes it. He’ll be gassing out in the second or third period, that’s for sure.”
This marks Volkmann’s return since the UFC released him following a submission loss to Bobby Green in the final minute at UFC 156. It made him 6-4 for the promotion.
Beerbohm competed a few times out of Strikeforce, with the last appearance being in April 2011. He’s won six straight since March 2012 across the western end of the United States.
They open the main card later today, June 14, from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV. The main card fights are set to air live on the NBC Sports Network.
