Josh Thomson is under fire due to comments he made on his Twitter and Facebook account. The lightweight had compared gay marriage to incest and pedophilia. Now, he’s pointing the finger at the media for skewing his message.
“I am not against gay rights or gay marriage in anyway,” said Thomson to BJPENN.com. “My comments were completely taken out of context by some members of the media and I have since removed them out of respect for anyone who may have been offended. It was not my intention to offend or hurt anyone.”
There has been no word if the UFC will take action. They recently suspended and fined Thomson’s latest opponent, Nate Diaz, for calling a fellow fighter a f– as it fell into their new code of conduct.
Thomson rejoined the promotion in April when he defeated Diaz in the third and final round at UFC on FOX 7. He entered the fight after years in Strikeforce and is 20-5.
