King of the Cage (KOTC) has plans to showcase amateur fighters from across the planet as they attempt to turn pro.
The event will host a total of 40 amateur fighters who compete for five spots on the KOTC roster. The contracts range from $25,000 to $100,000.
Terry Trebilcock, owner and CEO of KOTC, says contracts will be determined by a combination of judges, live audience members and viewers via online voting. Even if the fighter losses, he is eligible to win a contract.
“Our new concept of the World Amateur Championship will give fighters a chance to not only be able to fight professionally, but to also be on TV and grow within the sport and our organization,” said Trebilcock.
The first event is October 19 from the Pearl in Las Vegas, NV. Trebilcock wants to expand the concept in 2014.
