UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones didn’t come out and directly say it, but all signs point to him facing Alexander Gustafsson later this year.
Initial reports have the bout targeted for October, as Jones continues to heal up from a toe injury. On Twitter Wednesday, “Bones” stated that the toe will “be fine.”
Also, he made a post in regards to his age. Some have said Jones is only winning fights because he is so much younger than his recent competition in Chael Sonnen and Vitor Belfort.
“My youth won’t be an excuse after this next one,” Jones wrote.
While Jones is 25 years old, Gustafsson is just a year older at 26.
UPDATE: Jones added a post later in the day, writing, “Fight date announcement coming soon. Just spoke with the president (Dana White). Stay tuned.
