Rosi Sexton’s entrance into the UFC came out of nowhere. Preparing for a Cage Warriors bout, she got the call asking to pack on an additional 10 pounds and compete at UFC 161. She quickly obliged.
“I didn’t see this one coming until it happened,” said Sexton to MMA Junkie. “It was an opportunity I didn’t think I’d ever have. It’s something I’ve dreamt of ever since I started competing in MMA. My first fight was back in 2002, over 10 years ago, and all the time I’ve been competing. I’d kind of given up hope that it was going to happen in time for me.”
The Brit is 13-2, winning her last three out of Cage Warriors. The losses came against the then highly ranked Gina Carano and Zoila Frausto Gurgel. She takes on Alexis Davis this Saturday, June 15.
Davis took wins over Hitomi Akano and Shayna Baszler for Invicta FC once Strikeforce closed.
UFC 161 comes from Canada’s MTS Centre.
