UFC light heavyweight contender Alexander Gustafsson has been waiting several months to challenge UFC champion Jon Jones. Now, “The Mauler” is letting it be known all he needs is a date.
Gustafsson, who defeated Mauricio “Shogun” Rua last year, was forced out of a planned encounter with Gegard Mousasi after suffering a deep cut in training. Since he last competed, Lyoto Machida has joined him among the ranks of contender, but he is set to face Phil Davis later this year.
On Twitter, Gustafsson sent a message to Jones saying, “give me a date?!” while also adding UFC president Dana White to the challenge.
Rumors continue to float around concerning Jones, who has said he could either return in a matter of weeks, or undergo surgery for his injured toe.
