Brendan Schaub knew before Lavar Johnson even hit the scales at UFC 157 that something wasn’t right. Johnson would be flagged after the fight for elevated testosterone.
“When I saw him arrive at the hotel on Tuesday, he was jacked,” said Schaub on The MMA Hour. “And I said something to my coaches like ‘Well, hopefully they test this dude.’ Everyone was like, ‘Yeah, he’s pretty big.’ So, I assumed it. I assumed he was doing something when you look like that.”
Johnson was released following the decision loss to Schaub. He went 2-2 for the promotion, losing a pair in the end.
Schaub now takes on former cast member of The Ultimate Fighter Matt Mitrione. That’s at UFC on FOX 8 from the KeyArena in Seattle, WA on July 27.
