Santiago Ponzinibbio made it to the finals in a grueling season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): Brazil. Unfortunately, the welterweight was injured in the semifinals and couldn’t compete in the finale.
“I really wanted to be in there, but unfortunately, it happens in our kind of sport,” said Ponzinibbio to MMA Junkie. “But the important thing is I’m well, I am [signed to the UFC], I will have a fight and I’ll come back stronger than ever to put on some really great fights.”
The Brazilian took an extra $50,000 on the show for best knockout and fight of the season.
Leonardo Santos filled in for Ponzinibbio and took the submission over William Macario to win the season. He used an arm triangle choke for the second round win. They fought at UFC on FUEL TV 10, this past Saturday.
Ponzinibbio entered TUF house at 18-1.
